SVEZIA Nynäshamn «Skärscape»

Nynäshamn and its surrounding coastal landscape are part of the Stockholms skärgård. Since the last ice time different processes of landscape forming like carving, shifting, elevation and eroding created the skärgård landscape with 25 000 islands. Its a multiple coded open space used by residents and tourists.
The spacial emptiness of the site and a lack of defined programm are the potentials of Estö. It remained an area where the city is cut off and the landscape of the skärgård comes in.
The new created Skärscape is related to the processes of its local landscape origin and context. The reduced principles define the space on different scales: Linear and intersecting cuts create a general park structure. In detail, the cuts help to differentiate surfaces, materials and topography. Thin lines are cutted into the ground following the topographical predefined space of Estö .  Their intersections generate different elevated rock surfaces: Creating spatial variety and initiating multiple uses. Pathes following the main cutted lines create a network along the edge of the area. A wide green space is open for different uses: events, sports, leisure. The central park area is lowered for about 50cm. Temporary flood caused by heavy rainfall can so be solved and used as a qualifying park theme.
