STUDY AREA
The site has a perfect strategic location between Amsterdam and Almere center. Outstanding natural conditions, which formed during the 40 years of Flevoland development and its connectivity to Amsterdam and Almere center make the site an ideal place for people searching for escape from the city and do not want to loose connections with it.
Environmental layout. The plan for the study area is focused on creating diverse living environment in close relation to nature. It is comprised of three villages stringed together by the road. Each village has its own identity and character, defined as a function of the existing and projected conditions of greenery and water (3 villages, 3 greeneries, 3 waters):
INTERVENTION AREA
The building consists of 2 parts: a steel frame, which bares a timber structure: a box, which can be placed upright or lie on top this frame. Different positions of the box produce different spatial scenarios, suitable for different type of use.
Location 1 Cultural Pavilion/ Infocenter.
The box is in upright position. The building becomes a billboard, an eye-catching pixel screen with a void in the middle, which serves as a stage for public concerts or as a terrace for the private parties. Exhibition is on the ground and the first floors; sales office is on the top floor. The building is served by temporary vertical circulation: scaffolding staircase and construction elevator. Giant graffiti with a villa layout in 1:1 scale is on the wall of the pavilion, which later will become a floor of the villa.
Location 2 – Villa
Once the timber structure is reassembled in the horizontal position the walls become floors and floors. The building becomes less visible, but more spacious. Thanks to the modular structure, we can swap filling of openings and walls.
